Q1. What Made You Decide To Establish Your Own Brand? What Is Meaning Of Brand Name?
ブランド設立のきっかけは何ですか？また、ブランド名の意味を教えてください。
The trigger was an invitation from a friend: "Why don't you create accessories and participate in a market?" When I thought about what kind of accessories to make, I was reminded of my visit to Paris at the age of 19 to study pastries. At that time, I was working as a pastry chef and collaborating with many craftsmen. I wanted to use European parts made by artisans, so I established the brand and started production. The brand name, "Enchante," means "nice to meet you" in French.
きっかけは友人からの「アクセサリーを作ってマルシェに参加しない？」という誘いでした。どんなアクセサリーを作ろうか考えた時浮かんだのは、19歳の時お菓子の勉強の為に行ったパリについて。そして当時私はお菓子を作る仕事をしており沢山の職人と働いていましたので職人の作るヨーロッパのパーツを使いたいと思いブランドを設立、制作を始めました。
ブランド名である、"Enchante"はフランス語で初めましてという意味です。
Q2. Please Describe Your Production Process.
商品はどのような工程を経て出来上がるのでしょうか？
First, I source handmade parts from around the world, which serve as the base materials. I then create additional parts to complement the sourced pieces and combine them to create the final products. Since many of the parts I source are vintage or antique, some of our products end up being one-of-a-kind. Regarding clothing, we repurpose factory defects and their components that inevitably occur during the production process into new products.
まずは素材となる世界中の手作りパーツを仕入れます。そして仕入れたパーツに合うパーツを私がお作りし組み合わせ、商品に仕上げます。仕入れるパーツはヴィンテージやアンティークの物が多い為1点物の商品になる場合もございます。お洋服については、各工場の制作過程でどうしても起こってしまう不良品とそのパーツ達を合わせリメイクし商品にしております。
Q3. What Made You Interested In NY Market?
ニューヨーク市場に興味を持った理由は何ですか？
In one word, it's "introductions." I aspired to work not only in Japan but also globally. Just at that time, I was introduced to the ARCADE JAPAN by an acquaintance. I considered this to be a fateful "introduction," and I thought that New York might be a necessary piece for the future of me and Enchante. So, I decided to participate and here I am now.
一言で言うのであれば「引き合わせ」です。私は日本だけでなく世界で仕事をしたいと思ってました。その矢先、知り合いから the ARCADE JAPANについて紹介されました。これはきっと「引き合わせ」であり、NYという場所はこれからの私やEnchanteにとって必要なピースになるのではないかと考えました。そして出店する事を決め今に至ります。
Q4.Which One Is Your Favorite Piece? And Why?
イチオシはどの商品ですか？又その理由は？
My favorite pieces are the remade clothes created using B-grade items we prepared for this occasion. While we also sell clothes sourced from overseas, sometimes they may have stains or tears due to defects that occur in the manufacturing process or during import. Instead of discarding them, we repurpose them with new designs and offer them as remade clothing. This is our initiative to combat the issue of excessive clothing waste leading to environmental pollution worldwide.
今回ご用意致したB品を使用してお作りしたリメイクのお洋服たちです。当店では海外から仕入れたお洋服の販売もしておりますが工場の制作過程や輸入段階で、汚れがついたり破れたりしたものがあります。それを捨てるのではなくデザインを変えリメイクお洋服として販売しております。世界中で洋服は捨てられすぎて環境汚染の問題になっている事を知り始めた取り組みです。
