Q1. What Made You Decide To Establish Your Own Brand? What Is Meaning Of Brand Name?
ブランド設立のきっかけは何ですか？また、ブランド名の意味を教えてください。
I was drawn to the historical background of kogin embroidery, the spirit of the people at that time, and the beauty of its patterns. I started learning kogin embroidery through self-study. As I continued, I began to compare and contemplate the kogin embroidery of the past, which served as a daily necessity, and the contemporary kogin embroidery in the context of modern crafts and art. I strongly felt the desire to express and share my own thoughts and interpretations. This drove me to establish my brand.
The brand name "Cornucopia" refers to the object often used in harvest festivals and symbolizes abundance and plenty. Inspired by the rich spirit of the farmers who practiced kogin embroidery amid poverty and frugality due to the scarcity of resources during the time, I wanted to make it my theme to contemplate the essence of abundance in the modern world, where resources are plentiful. That's why I chose this name.
こぎん刺し発祥の歴史的背景と当時の人々の精神、そしてその模様の美しさに惹かれ、こぎん刺しを独学で始めました。続けていくうちに、当時の生活必需品として在ったこぎん刺しと、現代の手芸やアートとして在るこぎん刺しを比較し考察するようになってきました。その自分の考えを表現して発表したい、広めたい思いが強くなりブランドを設立しました。
ブランド名の意味は、収穫祭などで飾られるオブジェのcornu copiaeのことで、豊穣や豊かさのシンボルとされています。こぎん刺し発祥当時の貧しさと倹約令（衣食住において希少な作物の使用や消費を強く禁止するもの）の中でこぎん刺しを刺し綴った当時の農民の精神面の豊かさに感銘を受け、物資が豊かに存在する現代の豊かさの在り方を考えることを自身のテーマとしたく、このような名前にしました。
Q2. Please Describe Your Production Process.
商品はどのような工程を経て出来上がるのでしょうか？
Kogin embroidery uses hemp and cotton threads as materials. It involves counting the number of warp threads, primarily using odd numbers in a rhythmic fashion. Once you reach the end, you move up one row and start again. This process is repeated to create geometric patterns across the fabric. I intersperse traditional kogin patterns from the time when kogin embroidery originated with my own original designs. I use this fabric to create accessories like earrings and brooches, using my unique methods.
こぎん刺しは、麻布と木綿の糸を素材としています。平織になった麻布の織り目を見て、縦の織り糸の数を数えて、主に奇数をリズミカルに使って刺し進めます。端まで行ったら、緯糸を一段登って、また刺す。これを繰り返して布一面に幾何学模様を表します。こぎん刺しができた当時の伝統的な模様や自身が考案したパターンも織り交ぜながら、刺し綴ります。この布を使って、耳飾りやブローチなどに独自の手法で工夫して仕立てています。

ニューヨーク市場に興味を持った理由は何ですか？
Simply put, the idea of "Wow, it's overseas!" excited me. I thought about the origins of this excitement. One reason is the opportunity to share my work beyond Japan's borders. Another reason is the intriguing prospect of taking kogin embroidery, which originated in the past, to the trend-setting city of New York. I felt it was innovative and interesting to introduce kogin embroidery to the cutting-edge city of NY.
単純に「おお！海外か！」と驚きとともにワクワクしました。そのワクワクの根源はなんだろうかと良く考えました。１つは自分の作品を日本を越えてお届けする機会をもてるということ、もう１つは、こぎん刺しの歴史を紐解いてみた時に、こぎん刺しをトレンド最先端の街NYに持っていくことが出来るということが斬新でおもしろいな、と感じたからです。
Q4.Which One Is Your Favorite Piece? And Why?

My favorite piece is one made from molds taken from actual stones. Kogin embroidery wasn't created by famous artists or craftsmen but was born out of the wisdom of nameless women in farming households. I likened it to the concept of stones that aren't precious gemstones with names, but rather, everyday pebbles with individuality and character, rolling around everywhere. I took molds from stones using a papier-mâché technique and wrapped them with kogin embroidery. This unique approach reflects my commitment to using materials that return to nature and adds a playful touch, ensuring that the "stones of kogin" return to where they belong. Since each piece is one-of-a-kind, I hope you enjoy the unique connection.
イチオシは、石ころから型を取った作品です。こぎん刺しは、有名な芸術家や工芸家によって広められた美術品などではなく、生きるための知恵として農家の名もなき女の家庭の仕事として広まったものです。そのことを、名前がついていて美しく輝く宝石ではなく、身近に転がっていてひとつひとつ個性と表情がある、石ころになぞらえました。張り子の技法で石から型を取り、その型をこぎん刺しを綴った布で包む…など作り方も工夫しています。材料は全て自然に還る素材にこだわっていて、「こぎんの石ころも、石があったところに還ることができるように」、と遊び心も加えています。一点ものなのでそのご縁もお楽しみください。
