Q1. What Made You Decide To Establish Your Own Brand? What Is Meaning Of Brand Name?
ブランド設立のきっかけは何ですか？また、ブランド名の意味を教えてください。
I have loved making things since I was a child, and from about junior high school I had a vague idea of the kind of creative work I do today, so I began participating in ART EVENTs and other events while I was in college, and started my brand. The name of the brand, Katsuki, is my maiden name.
幼い頃より物を作るのが好きで、中学くらいからは漠然と現在のような創作活動のイメージがあったので、大学在学中からART EVENTなどに参加するようになった時に、ブランド名として発足しました。香月は私の旧姓です。
Q2. Please Describe Your Production Process.
商品はどのような工程を経て出来上がるのでしょうか？
Vessels and objects are made from clay using various techniques, dried, unglazed (first firing), glazed/painted, and fired (second firing) before completion. Some pieces may be further fired for gilding, etc. after the firing.
陶土で器やオブジェを様々な手法で制作し、乾燥→素焼き(1回目の窯焚き)→釉がけや絵付け→本焼き(2回目の窯焚きを経て完成します。この後作品によっては金彩などを施すために、さらに焼成を重ねる事もあります
Q3. What Made You Interested In NY Market?
ニューヨーク市場に興味を持った理由は何ですか？
I was interested in how my work would be seen and reacted to by people in other countries including New York.
ニューヨークだけに限らずではありますが、自分の作品が知らない国の人の目にどううつるのかどんな反応をするのかに興味があったからです。
Q4. Which One Is Your Favorite Piece? And Why?
イチオシはどの商品ですか？又その理由は？
"A mug with an animal handle"
The reason is that this is a work that we have continued to make since the early days when we started our brand, "katsukiya," and it is one of the representative works that made "katsukiya" known to everyone.
“動物が取っ手になっているマグカップ”
これは香月舎(katsukiya)を立ち上げた初期の頃から作り続けている作品であり、香月舎を皆様に知っていただいた代表的な作品の一つでもあるからです。
