Q1. What Made You Decide To Establish Your Own Brand? What Is Meaning Of Brand Name?
ブランド設立のきっかけは何ですか？また、ブランド名の意味を教えてください。
From a young age, I've always enjoyed creating things, even though I wasn't particularly skilled at it. The process of bringing the images in my head to life has always been fascinating. As I grew older, the joy from those experiences resurfaced, leading me to pursue this line of work. The brand name is derived from my real name, Mari, with a dot in between. I added the dot to make it more memorable for everyone... though, it often leads to questions about how to pronounce it.
幼い時から物作りが好きで、決して上手というわけではなかったのですが、自分の頭の中のイメージを実際に現実化する作業に面白さを感じていました。大人になり、その楽しかった経験に再び火がつき、この仕事を始めました。ブランド名は、本名のmariから来ており、間にドットを挟むことで、皆様の印象に残りやすくなるんではないか…という理由かドットを挟んでいます。(そのせいで、なんと読むのか分からないとよく言われます)
Q2. Please Describe Your Production Process.
商品はどのような工程を経て出来上がるのでしょうか？
There are two main processes in my work. One involves pre-designing and starting the creation process, while the other involves designing as I go. Both processes are enjoyable, and it's incredibly satisfying when the image in my head takes shape just as I envisioned. Designing on the fly and creating based on my own inspiration is also a fun and creative experience.
作業工程は2通りあります。予めデザインを考えて作り始める場合と作りながら考えて行く場合です。どちらの行程も楽しく、頭の中のイメージが思った通りに形になった時はすごく嬉しいですし、自分のおもいつくままに作りながらデザインを考えるのも楽しいです。
Q3. What Made You Interested In NY Market?
ニューヨーク市場に興味を持った理由は何ですか？
Originally, I have always been fascinated by the idea of exploring the world. Through studying abroad and traveling, I've had the opportunity to experience different cultures and appreciate the unique qualities of Japan. Among these experiences, New York has always held a special place in my mind. It is not only a hub for cutting-edge trends but also a gathering place for individuals involved in shaping those trends. I am excited to showcase my work in such a dynamic and influential environment, and I hope it resonates with those who appreciate creativity and innovation.
元々、幼い時から海外に興味がありました。留学や旅行などを通して世界を感じ、また日本の良さも改めて知りました。その中でもニューヨークはやはり、世界でも最先端の流行の発信場所、またそれに関わる人々が集う場所というイメージがあり、ぜひその中で作品を見て頂きたいという気持ちで参加させていただきました。

It's a hard question!! I'd recommend each of them with confidence, but what defines the essence of m.a.r.i.e.e.y might be the unique designs or unconventional color combinations.
とても難しい質問です(笑)どれも自信を持ってオススメしたいものばかりですが、m.a.r.i.e.e.yらしさが出ているのは、個性的なデザインだったり、一癖ある色の組み合わせだったりするのかもしれません。
