Q1. What Made You Decide To Establish Your Own Brand? What Is Meaning Of Brand Name?
ブランド設立のきっかけは何ですか？また、ブランド名の意味を教えてください。
My interest in traditional Japanese crafts led me to visit the places where the crafts were produced. The starting point of the brand was my hope to bring about a new standard of craft, which have remained noble, and to create something that we can wear in our lifestyles and that is familiar to us. YURAI means "origin," and it includes the meaning that the origin of the object, in other words, the object has a path that the craft has followed and has inherited the aesthetic sense that people have spun in it.
日本の伝統工芸に魅了されたをきっかけに、工芸の産地に訪れるようになりました。 高貴なものに留まってしまっている工芸からスタイルを変え、私たちのライフスタイルで身近に身につけられるものを作りたい、そこに挑戦したいと考えたのがブランド立ち上げの原点です。 YURAIは「由来」であり、そのモノの由来、つまりモノには工芸が辿った道筋があり、その中で人々が紡いできた美意識を受け継いでいるという意味を含んでいます。
Q2. Please Describe Your Production Process.
商品はどのような工程を経て出来上がるのでしょうか？
I am in charge of design. I draw out the history and techniques of local crafts and their appeal, and try to incorporate them into contemporary styles. Together with local craftspeople, I challenge and develop the technical and design aspects to create something that we have never seen before.
私はデザインを担当しています。産地の工芸の歴史や技術、その魅力を引き出し、現代のスタイルに落とし込むデザインを心掛けています。産地の職人とともに、今までにないモノを作るため、技術面やデザインで挑戦し、開発を行ないます。

ニューヨーク市場に興味を持った理由は何ですか？
I wanted to share the beauty of Japanese crafts with the people of New York.

"Mokkou Earrings - Seiji"
Seiji uses celadon (glaze) that can only be obtained in the Imari region, and the work has a beautiful greenish blue color with depth. Since this item is attractive and matches with various skin tones, I also like it very much myself.

伊万里の産地でしか取れない青磁(釉薬)を使用していて、緑みがかったブルーが奥行きがあり綺麗です。様々な肌のお色味にもマッチする魅力的なアイテムなので好きです。
