Q1. What Made You Decide To Establish Your Own Brand? What Is Meaning Of Brand Name?
ブランド設立のきっかけは何ですか？また、ブランド名の意味を教えてください。
I am fascinated by the warmth of handcrafted techniques and expressions of old accessories, especially those using beads. I want people to feel more familiar with the wonderful expression of beads, which are not well known, and I translate them into small accessories. The word "yueni" means "therefore" or "∴" in Japanese, and "therefore" in English. Each piece of work has its own background and what I want to convey, in other words, each piece has a background that continues from "Therefore", which is why I chose the brand name "yueni".
古いアクセサリーの、特にビーズのぬくもりのある手仕事の技法や表現に魅了され、その技法を、気軽に使える今のアクセサリーに仕立てたいと思い、 「form in beads -ビーズでかたちづくる-」というテーマでものづくりをしています。 あまり知られていないようなビーズの素晴らしい表現をもっと身近に感じていただきたいなと思い、小さなアクセサリーに落とし込んでいます。 yueniとは、日本語で「故に」「∴」英語では「Therefore」の意味になります。 作品一つ一つに、それが生まれたバックグラウンドやお伝えしたいこと、「Therefor」があり、ブランド名を「yueni」にしました。
Q2. Please Describe Your Production Process.
商品はどのような工程を経て出来上がるのでしょうか？
The beads are woven one by one with tegus or hand-embroidered, following an old technique that is not Luneville embroidery. For the "Beading Botanica" series, in which beads are used to form plants, I model the branches and leaves of actual plants and create original recipes by copying them as they are. The "Link" series, inspired by the beading of ancient folk costumes, uses an ancient beading technique called lazy stitch (or lane stitch). All of the works are created with respect to the ancient beading technique.
細かなシードビーズを、一粒一粒テグスで編み上げたり、古い技法に倣って、あえてリュネビル刺繍ではない手刺繍などで仕上げています。 ビーズで植物をかたちづくる、「ビーディングボタニカ」シリーズでは、実際の植物の枝振りや葉をモデルにし、そのままを写し取るようにしてオリジナルのレシピを作り仕上げています。 また、古代の民族衣装のビーズ装飾から着想を得た「連ねる：Link」シリーズでは、レイジーステッチ(またはレーンステッチ） という古いビーズ刺繍技法を使っています。 どれも、古くからあるビーズ技法をリスペクトした作品作りをしています。
Q3. What Made You Interested In NY Market?
ニューヨーク市場に興味を持った理由は何ですか？
When I was first invited to participate in the New York event, I was surprised at the unexpected location, but I was interested to see how my work, which incorporates the old techniques that inspired me into delicate Japanese-style designs, would be accepted by local people.
最初NYにとお誘いいただき、思ってもみない場所に驚きましたが、刺激を受けた古い技法などを 、日本らしく繊細なデザインに落とし込んだものがどのように反応されるのかと思い、興味を持ちました。
Q4.Which One Is Your Favorite Piece? And Why?
イチオシはどの商品ですか？又その理由は？
"Link" series
This series is inspired by the beaded decoration of ancient folk costumes, and is created using antique French beads and old Czech microbeads.
In ancient times, beads were sewn onto clothing as a form of wealth. The origin of the word "beads" is said to be "prayer," and I believe that the beauty of the decoration, the fineness of the workmanship, and the stitch-by-stitch sewing were all part of a prayer for the protection of the wearer. This series of accessories expresses this idea in my own way. The use of Czech micro beads gives it a very delicate finish. I would like to invite you to hold my work in your hands.

古代の民族衣装のビーズ装飾から着想を得た「連ねる：Link」シリーズ。 フランスのアンティークのビーズや、チェコの古いマイクロビーズを使ってかたちづくっています。 古代、ビーズが財貨的価値をもっていた時代財産として、衣服にビーズを縫い留めていたそう。 その装飾の美しさ、細工の細かさ、ひと針ひと針縫い留める、そのなかには 纏う人の身を守る、祈りの気持ちも込められていたのではないかと ビーズの語源「祈り」を考えたときにたどりついた表現をつかった装身具です。
チェコのマイクロビーズを使うことでとても繊細なしあがりになっています。ぜひ手に取って頂きたいです。
