Q1. What Made You Decide To Establish Your Own Brand? What Is Meaning Of Brand Name?
I have loved drawing and making things since I was a child, and I even attended an art college, where art unconsciously became an essential and significant part of my life. However, one day I injured my shoulder and could not even hold a pencil. I lost the energy to create things and became depressed. At that time, I started embroidery as a rehabilitation activity. After my injury healed, embroidery healed my mentally exhausted mind and gave me a comfortable time, which is the reason why I continue to embroider even now.
The name of my brand came from the image of a "spool of thread" that connects my work and encounters with people.
Q2. Please Describe Your Production Process.
I like to go for walks, so I get inspiration first from the flowers and plants I see during that time. I also like architectural decoration, so I look at books and art collection books for design reference. I use mainly one or two strands of embroidery thread to draw delicate lines, and combine them with soft ribbon embroidery to create a wider range of designs. When I get stuck, I go to the library and look at William Morris's art books, and etc.
Q3. What Made You Interested In NY Market?
Ever since I started creating artworks, I have longed to exhibit them overseas, and it has been one of my dreams. Thankfully, I have received many reactions on SNS from people overseas, which has strengthened my desire to show my works overseas. Art and fashion in New York are unique and different from those in Japan, and the city is filled with fascinating things. I hope that the discerning people of New York will enjoy seeing my work.
Q4.Which One Is Your Favorite Piece? And Why?
"omame kinchaku bag"
The most popular item is the brooch, but I recommend the small drawstring bag, "omame kinchaku bag". You can put keys, cosmetics such as lipsticks, eye drops, and sometimes even sweets in it. It is convenient to have one because you don't have to look for them in your bag when you need them immediately. It is also recommended for your accessories and other items that you want to keep in a safe place.
