Q1. What Made You Decide To Establish Your Own Brand? What Is Meaning Of Brand Name?
ブランド設立のきっかけは何ですか？また、ブランド名の意味を教えてください。
The decision to establish my own brand wasn't something I had thought about deeply, but I believe it was a desire to explore work through my own sensibilities. The brand name is a coined word, a fusion of my favorite drink and my name. It seems to refer to the pole used in pole vaulting in some country, and I thought it would be a good omen, as it helps one leap over obstacles.
ブランド設立のきっかけはあまり考えたことがなかったのですが、恐らく自分の感性で仕事をしてみたかったのだと思います。ブランド名は造語です。好きなお酒と自分の名前をあわせました。どこかの国の棒高跳びの棒のことをいうようで、高く飛び越えていく助けになるなんて縁起がいいなと思い決めました。
Q2. Please Describe Your Production Process.
商品はどのような工程を経て出来上がるのでしょうか？
I shape wire to create forms, apply resin to create a base, and then color it. The entire process is done by hand, so the shapes and patterns vary.
ワイヤーで形を作り樹脂を張りベースをつくります。そこへ彩色し樹脂でコーティングします。全て手作業の為、形も絵柄も様々です。
Q3. What Made You Interested In NY Market?
ニューヨーク市場に興味を持った理由は何ですか？
I had an interest in expanding internationally, and when I was approached, it piqued my interest. I think New York has a lot of people with a keen sense of aesthetics, so I wanted to see the kind of response our products would receive there.
海外での展開に興味がある中でお声かけいただいたので興味を持ちました。ニューヨークは感度の高い方が多いと思うのでその中でどのような反応があるのか知りたいと思いました。
Q4.Which One Is Your Favorite Piece? And Why?
イチオシはどの商品ですか？又その理由は？
My favorite series is "Drops of Art," which is inspired by Gustav Klimt's artwork. It's a series I've carefully created through multiple steps, inspired by the impact I felt when I saw Klimt's works at an exhibition a few years ago.
クリムトの作品からインスピレーションを受けた「絵画の雫」シリーズです。数年前、クリムト展で作品を見た際に受けた衝撃を忘れないよう大切にしながら、いくつもの工程を経てお作りしています。
